Effective Date: October 6, 2016.
1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE TO US DIRECTLY:
Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”) is information that could identify you, such as your name, address, e-mail address, Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, or telephone number. “Non-personally Identifiable Information” (“NPII”) means information that does not permit Us to specifically identify you by your full name or similar unique identifying information (such as information We may collect about the users of Our Site).
We collect PII and NPII about you when you register for an account on Our Site, create or donate to a Campaign, comment on a Campaign, subscribe to Our blog, fill out a form, communicate with Us via third party social media sites, apply for a job, request customer support, or otherwise communicate with us. The types of information We collect include your name, email address, mailing address, age, phone number, and any other information you choose to provide. We may combine this information about you with information We obtain from business partners or companies.
During account registration and Campaign creation, We require users to give Us basic contact information (such as your first name, last name, age, and e-mail addresses), Campaign information (such as Campaign dates and fundraising goal), loss information (such as date of death and decedent’s name) and demographic information (such as your ZIP or postal code). Registration information is collected via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol (https). The information requested on the account registration form may change from time to time. Although additional demographic information may be requested at the time of registration, only information marked “required” is necessary for registration and utilization of Our Services. When you use the Services to create a Campaign (“Sponsors”), you will be required to identify the recipient of Campaign contributions – yourself or another individual. The Sponsor of a Campaign will be the contact person unless otherwise specified. Sponsors agree to make Campaigns public and accessible by visitors to ALittleHelp. You are responsible for obtaining permission to publish your contact person’s personal information like his or her name and email address.
Users who register through Facebook agree to share their public Facebook profile, friend list and e-mail address via Facebook’s App permissions interface. If you consent to such access, you shall be deemed to consent to (i) Our solicitation of your Facebook Friends for the limited purposes of promoting Our products and services, and (ii) Our use of your name and other PII identifying you when We communicate with such individual. You can revoke this access at any time. If you wish to revoke such access, please e-mail Us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Site is not directed to children under the age of eighteen (18) and We will not knowingly collect PII from children under the age of eighteen (18) on the Site. Thus, We do not accept registrations from persons under the age of 18. Services are available only to persons who are 18 years of age and over. If We learn that a user is under the age of 18, or that We have inadvertently received PII from a person under the age of eighteen (18), We will terminate the account and delete the user’s PII. We will not be liable for any content or advertisements viewed by minor children in violation of the terms of this agreement. If you are under the age of eighteen (18), please immediately cease using the Site.
INFORMATION We AUTOMATICALLY COLLECT:
When you visit Our Site or use Our Services, Our server automatically collects data about your server’s Internet address when you visit Us. This information, known as an Internet Protocol address, or IP Address, is a number that's automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet service provider whenever you’re on the Internet. When you request pages from Our Site, Our servers may log your IP Address and sometimes your domain name. Your IP Address is used to help identify you and to gather demographic information about Our customers as a whole. Our server may also record NPII, including the referring page that linked you to Us (e.g., another web site or a search engine); the pages you visit on Our Site; the Site you visit after Our Site; the ads you see and/or click on; your computer’s operating system, browser type and language; access times; any search terms you have entered on this Site or a referral site; and other web usage activity and data logged by Our web servers.
INFORMATION COLLECTED BY COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES
We use various technologies to collect information, including cookies and web beacons. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive or in device memory that help Us improve Our Services and your experience, see which areas and features of Our Services are popular, and count visits. Web beacons are electronic images that may be used in Our Services or emails and help deliver cookies, count visits and understand usage and campaign effectiveness. For more information about cookies, and how to disable them, please see “Your Choices” below.
If you have an existing relationship with LGA or any of its affiliates, LGA may hold your PII or NPII in connection with that existing relationship. This Policy does not apply to any PII or NPII that LGA or any of its affiliates may hold about you in connection with your existing relationship with LGA.
2. WHAT DO WE USE YOUR INFORMATION FOR?
Any of the PII or NPII that We collect from you may be used in one of the following ways:
- To provide, maintain, and improve Our Services (we continually strive to improve Our website offerings based on the information and feedback We receive from you);
- To respond to your comments, questions and requests, and provide and improve customer service (your information helps Us to more effectively respond to your customer service requests and support needs);
- To provide and deliver the products and services you request, process transactions, and send you related information, including confirmations;
- To send periodic notices including technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages;
- For LGA and its affiliates, and their representatives, to contact or communicate with you about products and services that We believe will be of interest to you, where permitted by applicable law. If We do so, each such marketing communication We send to you will contain instructions about how you can “opt-out” of receiving future marketing communications. In addition, if at any time you wish not to receive any future marketing communications or you wish to have your name deleted from Our mailing lists, please contact Us at the e-mail address indicated in Section 6, below;
- To monitor and analyze trends, usage and activities in connection with the Site and Our Services;
- To personalize and improve the Services and provide content or features that match user profiles or interests;
- To link or combine with information We get from others to help understand your needs and provide you with better service; and
- To carry out any other purpose for which the information was collected.
ALittleHelp and LGA are based in the United States and the information We collect is governed by U.S. law. By accessing or using the Services or otherwise providing information to Us, you consent to the transfer of such information across country borders, and to the use, transfer, processing, and disclosure of such information in other countries. Your consent includes your consent to the transfer of your PII to locations that may have different levels of privacy protection than in your own country.
Because NPII does not identify who you are, We do not limit the ways in which We may use or share NPII. For example, We may share NPII with Our affiliates, suppliers, employees and agents, other businesses, and the government. Similarly, We may disclose de-identified aggregate user information without restriction.
3. HOW DO WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION?
We intend to protect your PII and to maintain its accuracy. We have implemented commercially reasonable physical, technical and administrative safeguards designed to protect your PII from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration or disclosure. However, while We strive to protect your PII, We cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never be able to defeat those measures or use your PII for improper purposes. Any transmission of PII is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of Our privacy or security safeguards.
4. SHARING OF INFORMATION
- With vendors, consultants and other service providers who assist Us in operating Our Site, conducting Our business, marketing Our products, or providing Services to you, so long as those third parties agree to keep this information confidential;
- In response to a request for information if We believe disclosure is in accordance with, or required by, any applicable law, regulation or legal process;
- If We believe your actions are inconsistent with Our user agreements or policies, or to protect the rights, property and safety of LGA or others;
- In connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or a portion of Our business by another company;
- Between and among LGA and Our subsidiaries and affiliated companies; and
- With your consent or at your direction.
SOCIAL SHARING FEATURES
The Services may offer social sharing features and other integrated tools (such as the Facebook “Like” button), which let you share actions you take on Our Services with other media, and vice versa. Your use of such features enables the sharing of information with your friends or the public, depending on the settings you establish with the entity that provides the social sharing feature. For more information about the purpose and scope of data collection and processing in connection with social sharing features, please visit the privacy policies of the entities that provide these features.
ADVERTISING AND ANALYTICS SERVICES PROVIDED BY OTHERS
We may also work with other websites or platforms (such as Facebook) to serve ads to you as part of a customized campaign, unless you notify Us that you prefer not to have information about you used in this way. To opt out, please email Us at email@example.com.
The Site may contain links to other websites. We cannot be responsible for their content or for private information that you may choose to share with them. Please note: PII and NPII you release directly to parties who provide services to ALittleHelp, such as any vendors who advertise on the Site, may be subject to different rules of use or disclosure. We encourage you to investigate and ask questions before disclosing personal information to third parties.
5. YOUR CHOICES
You may update, correct or delete your PII at any time by logging into your online account, emailing Us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you wish to delete or deactivate your account, please email Us at email@example.com, but note that We may retain certain PII as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, including to contact you in future marketing communications. We may also retain cached or archived copies of your PII for a certain period of time.
Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject browser cookies. Removing or rejecting browser cookies does not necessarily affect third party cookies that may appear in your browser. Please note that if you choose to remove or reject cookies, this could affect the availability and functionality of Our Services.
“DO NOT TRACK” SIGNALS
We do not engage in the collection of PII over time and across third-party websites. We do not track your use of, and behavior on, other websites.
Currently, We are not purposely allowing any Online Tracker to collect personal information about your activities on the Site when you use the Site or the Services.
In the event that ALittleHelp receives a “do not track” signal or other mechanisms that provide consumers (i.e., those users of the Site who are individuals and not legal entities) the ability to exercise choice regarding the collection of PII about such consumer’s online activities over time and across third-party websites or online services (each a “DNT Requestor”), We will take commercially reasonable and legally required steps to honor the signal and the DNT Requestor’s election. Such steps may include, without limitation, revising its contracts and arrangements with any third parties who track the DNT Requestor’s activities on the Site (each an “Online Tracker”), if any, to ensure that such Online Tracker does not track the DNT Requestor’s activities on the Site, disabling any functionality that allows an Online Tracker to track the DNT Requestor’s activities on the Site, and cooperating with the efforts and acts of the DNT Requestor’s web browser or Internet service provider to prevent Online Trackers from tracking the DNT Requestor’s online activities.
You may opt out of receiving informational or promotional emails from Us by following the instructions in those emails or by emailing Us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you opt out, We may still send you non-promotional communications, such as those about your account or confirmations of donation transactions.
