Memorial Description

This fund was established for the Ballinger Family, in memory of sweet Cooper Wayne Ballinger, by the HJ Class of 96. The hope is to create a scholarship in Cooper's name, or perhaps a special place in the library, one of Cooper's favorite spots at China Elementary. "They say that one of the hardest things that you will ever do is to become a parent. That is very true...but it's a lie. The hardest thing you will ever do is to try to literally bring life back into your child...to breath for him...to make his heart beat...all the while his two brothers are watching wide eyed not knowing what is being done to their brother. Cooper was having the time of his life swimming and playing and had what we believe to be a seizure while he was swimming which unfortunately caused him to roll face first into the water, despite wearing a life jacket. Jimbo and I were quick to react and that gave us an additional 12 hours with our baby. He even got to ride in one of his Poppie's PHI helicopters. It allowed his Grandparents and Uncle time to get to the hospital to see their little Coopaloop. He got one more camp-out with Mommy, Daddy and Pengi by his side...the only thing missing was Jackson and Sawyer. We don't know why this happened to our ray of sunshine at such a young age and we may never know. What we do know is that he has touched SO many people in only a way that Cooper could have done. We consider ourselves blessed to have had this short 7 1/2 years with him. We will never forget his crazy little singing self, his hugs, his sugars and his passion to live life going 100 miles an hour and never looking back. We are asking that family and friends wear pink the night of the visitation in honor of Cooper's favorite pink shirt that he loved to wear and yellow on the day of his funeral services since he was our little ray of sunshine. He wouldn't want us to wear black because he said that was always such a boring color. Thank you all for the prayers, thoughts, kind words and food that has been pouring our way. We love our family, friends and community. Thank you again for all that you've done for our Cooper."
